National Service Frameworks

The National Service Frameworks define long term strategies for the NHS in England in specific areas of care. They set national standards, identify key interventions and put in place agreed time scales for implementation. NSF's have been defined for blood pressure, cancer, children, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD, coronary heart disease, diabetes, long term conditions, long term neurological conditions, mental health, older people, renal and vascular areas of care. They vary immensely: the index page for blood pressure is quite short whereas the index page for the children's NSF is very detailed and links include many documents and links. The National Service Frameworks are still being developed but many are several years old now.
