I've been looking at the Digital Britain Report published by DCMS (the Department of Culture, Media and Sport,) and BIS(the Department for Business Innovation and skills) in June. This report proposes strategies to encourage and regulate the use of digital resources and includes suggestions for changing copyright laws- a tricky issue which involves steering a course between making sure that authors are rewarded and ensuring that their works can be preserved for the future- including contentious issues such as how to deal with orphan works.
The government recognises that digital technologies are a crucial factor in the future of the British economy and it wants to promote ICT training. The report also covers the issue of Personal data. Anyone who doesn't have time to read the whole report (i.e. everyone,) can try reading the executive summary and conclusion
