OCLC's Lynne Connaway gave a talk to Cambridge Librarians in November 2010 on Virtual Research Environments and the needs of Virtual Researchers. Needs vary quite widely between scientists and social scientists, and she highlights a lot of concerns and issues. Unfortunately I couldn't go to the talk but through the wonders of modern technology we can all see her Powerpoint presentation 'What Are Virtual Researchers Up To? VREs and Their Users'. She gave an example of the VRE-SDM project at Oxford University and explained how such sites as MyExperiment can help researchers. I resolve keep my ears open to learn more.
