"Collections shift" is a term that modern information specialists such as Lorcan Dempsey are using to describe the changing nature of library collections. I have been referring to this in my blog as "Future libraries" but it strikes me that the future is perhaps now here.
Lorcan's blog on the subject nicely describes some of the changes involved. Lorcan uses both the terms "collections shift" and "collection shifts" seemingly interchangeably, so it seems that one can allocate the 's' where one likes in the phrase. A problem for cataloguers?
A collections shift sounds somewhat like a continental drift- or a consonant drift in this case.
