Some Ideas from Libcamp 2012

I did not attend LibcampUK 2012 this year (last year was great but I have rather lost the professional will to live this year.) Nevertheless, you can still see what went on and learn from people who did go and follow the TWUB.
There is an excellent blog post on the Growing a Library blog describing Andrew Walshe's session on using games in your library,  (lots of interesting links to different types of games in this post, and learned the concept Gamification) and one by CriticalSteph on how to Run your own Library Camp
Tattletape and tea has posted on the session What is a library For? (which sounded like it was one to skip)  and Open source software run by @preater and @liz_jolly, which discussed  the hazards and benefits of a library running its library management systems using open source software, also a session on Librarians without libraries run by ex Law Library trainee @theatregrad, who works in a media archive at a television company. Virtual Librarianship is becoming an important aspect of the sector and the issues involved in working out of the library and in the user community or from a remote location are various and interesting. Bookshelf Guardian has blogged the Careers session, discussing how difficult it is to progress without moving to another part of the country, and whether or not chartership is relevent, and what to put on forms if yours has lapsed (hmmm.) I hope some more people blog about the other sessions soon! There seems to have been much discussion of swearing too including links to a video about the F word, as well as storytelling and the use of volunteers
ps glad to learn you can see all related posts here
