We recently learned about this new idea, which has been piloted at the library of the Judge Institute for Business Studies in Cambridge: a
speaking wall (basically a large notice board covered in a huge piece of paper with some pencils to hand.)

The Judge Library staff came up with this idea to combat the lack of survey responses from email or webform users: a phenomena that we have noticed in our library too. I wonder if it is also handy for statistical purposes, your response rate will presumably be 100% instead of 0, counting users who opt in instead of having to be asked for a response. Unless you count it as a proportion of people visiting the library that day, in which case it will be about 1%. Sigh. Statistics are so difficult and so maleable.
